Steering Group Meeting 31st January 2012

The next DITMG Steering Group meeting is was scheduled for 31st January 2012 at Seminar Room 11, Clinical School, (Addenbrooke’s hospital site).  This has now been postponed due to delays in arranging the member vote on the proposed new remit.

The meeting is likely to be held in the week beginning 13th February, after the voting page has been up for one week. The current agenda is here, the draft minutes of the previous meeting are here, and the main item for discussion at this meeting will be the results of the vote on the new remit.

The new website goes live

Having used the Falcon Content Management Service from May this year, we have now migrated the DITMG website across to WordPress on the UCS Managed Web Server. I’d like to thank the Computing Service for their help with Falcon, and make it clear we chose to move not because Falcon doesn’t work, but because the Steering Group doesn’t have enough time to make best use of that system.

The new site has been under test for the last two weeks, it has articles going back to the DITMG Mobile Tech event, information about the DITMG, its remit, the Steering Group Agenda and minutes going back to 2009. More recent content includes a new member joining the Steering Group and some presentations and supporting material from the Mobile Tech event. We plan to expand the site over the coming months to provide more useful information, and it is intended to replace both the old website and the Camtools site.

The Steering Group is meeting on Wednesday this week to discuss a proposed new remit for the group, in the mean time if you have any questions, as always, email steering@ditmg.group.cam and we will get back to you as soon as we can.

Presentations from the Mobile Technology Event

We’ve received some of the material used or referred to in the Mobile Technology Event, see below ( indicates content which requires Raven authentication to access);

As the University Computing Service has Google Apps it appears there is already the option of some control over mobile devices, including the additional facilities announced (see third Android item above).  There is no news yet as to how this might be implemented, if at all.
